WASHINGTON—Today, the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) issued the following statement on the shootings at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which resulted in at least one death and multiple casualties.

“ALPA condemns the disgraceful acts that were committed at Los Angeles International Airport today and reaffirms its support of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees, their families, and its mission. We also offer our condolences and support to everyone injured in this shooting, and those who were at LAX and affected in any way by this tragic incident.

“ALPA applauds the TSA agents and law enforcement whose efforts may have prevented the assailant from inflicting further harm and gaining further access to the secure area of the airport and potentially onto an aircraft. As always, ALPA’s number one focus is safety, and we remain vigilant in our goal of ensuring safety and security in the airport and in the air. ALPA is committed to ensuring that the U.S. air travel system remains the safest and most secure in the world.”
