CanJet Pilots Reach Tentative Agreement with Management
Contract dependent upon pilot ratification.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia—CanJet pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), announced a tentative agreement (TA) with their management yesterday. If the TA is ratified by the pilots, it will be the second contract for the pilot group since they joined ALPA in 2006.

“After almost a year and a half of direct negotiations, we believe we have reached an agreement with improvements in almost all sections of the contract,” said CanJet Master Executive Council (MEC) Chairman Capt. Alex Sirros. “We are pleased to have completed the negotiating process and look forward to meeting with our pilots beginning next week to discuss the details.”

The tentative collective bargaining agreement is the basis for a fair and equitable contract. The MEC plans to meet with CanJet pilots at bases across Canada over the course of the next few weeks to educate them on the TA. Voting is expected to take place after the meetings are completed. Details of the agreement will not be released until after the membership ratification process is completed, which is expected to take place later this month.

“The MEC is hopeful that all pilots will be pleased with the gains that we’ve achieved in this agreement,” said Sirros. “We are optimistic that it will move through the ratification process quickly.”
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union, representing more than 50,000 pilots at 33 airlines in Canada and the United States, including 130 pilots at CanJet. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org.
