The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, hosted a briefing today in Washington, D.C., to discuss upcoming implementation plans for the Known Crewmember program (KCM).

ALPA President Lee Moak and Airlines for America (A4A) Sr. Vice President Dave Berg opened the meeting by emphasizing that the program’s success thus far is largely due to the coordination of the airlines, government, and our union.

The most encouraging news is that, after several months of behind-the-scenes work, KCM site surveys are scheduled at the following eight additional airports:

Denver (DEN)
Las Vegas (LAS)
Salt Lake City (SLC)
Newark (EWR)
JFK New York (JFK)
LaGuardia (LGA)
Washington, D.C. (DCA)
Philadelphia (PHL)

KCM will begin at each airport as soon as its system is ready to become operational, with the first additional sites expected to come online beginning this summer. The KCM program, which has already facilitated more than 500,000 pilot entries through security since August 2011, will add a bar code reader at all locations in the near future. This will further expedite pilots through security.

Provided herewith is the presentation used for today’s meeting; more information about KCM is available at www.knowncrewmember.org. KCM information is included on the ALPA app for iPhone and Droid users.

Participants at the briefing included representatives from the Frontier Airline Pilots Association, the US Airline Pilots Association, the Independent Pilots Association, and the Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association.
