Comair Pilots Respond to Company Announcement of Offer
CINCINNATI---The following statement was released today by J.C. Lawson, chairman of the Comair pilots Master Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, in response to the Comair management announcement that it has offered a proposal to its pilots in their ongoing labor negotiations:
Following more than two-and-a-half years of negotiations, the Comair pilots welcome managements first serious proposal. Of course, any offer requires careful scrutiny, which we will undertake with vigor.nbsp; The figures quoted in the companys statement are not as generous or far-reaching as Comair would have us believe.
To date, we have been disciplined and respectful of the negotiating process by keeping our discussions at the bargaining table. We feel that the companys sudden move to commence negotiations in public demonstrates a lack of respect.
