CINCINNATI -- As the Comair pilots' strike enters its second day tomorrow, the president of their international union will join the picket line at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. "I will be extremely proud to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with these pilots. They are fighting a battle for our profession, and I want them to know that ALPA's 59,000 members are behind them," said Captain Duane Woerth, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, International.

"The battle lines in this conflict are clear. Our Comair pilots are fighting a management that clings to outmoded and obsolete labels -- 'regional pilots,' 'commuter pilots' -- to try to perpetuate a subordinate class of work provisions," Woerth said. "These pilots are professionals of the highest order, flying some of the world's most sophisticated passenger aircraft for a major airline that has emerged as a prominent player in the industry. The Comair pilots deserve pay and work rules commensurate with the enormous responsibility they bear and the considerable expertise they bring to their cockpits," Woerth said.

Woerth will join the picketers during the rotation scheduled for 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. outside of Terminal 3, upstairs on the west end of the departure gates.

Now in its 70^th year, the Air Line Pilots Association, International, is the world's oldest and largest pilots union. ALPA represents more than 59,000 pilots flying for 49 carriers in the U.S. and Canada.
