Comair Pilot Leadership to Send Neutral Recommendation of Management Settlement Offer to Pilot Group
CINCINNATI The Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Comair unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International, has voted unanimously to send Comair managements Settlement Offer to the pilot membership with a neutral recommendation.
Distribution of the Settlement Offer was a condition set by the National Mediation Board in order for the pilots to be released into a 30-day cooling-off period, which began on February 23 and will end at 12:01 a.m. on March 26. Pilot road shows presenting the terms of managements Settlement Offer will commence on March 8.
The Comair MEC, the local leadership of the ALPA unit, agreed to submit managements offer to pilots with either a positive or a neutral recommendation. The MEC received the Settlement Offer on Friday, March 2, reviewed it over the weekend, and voted to send it to the pilot group with a neutral recommendation. Telephone balloting of the pilots will begin in the near future, and results will be announced on March 19.
In the event that managements settlement offer is rejected by the pilot group, strike preparations continue throughout the Comair pilots infrastructure. Strike centers are now in operation in Cincinnati and Orlando.
ALPA represents more than 59,000 airline pilots at 49 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Its Web site is at http://cf.alpa.org
