Cincinnati -- Comair officials and the leaders of the Comair unit of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), announced today that Comair pilots have ratified a new five-year contract that will enable the airline to resume some operations beginning July 2. Approximately 64 percent of the voting pilots chose to ratify the agreement, ending an 89-day strike.

"We are pleased to have a new contract with our pilots and look forward to welcoming them and our other employees back to Comair," said Comair president Randy Rademacher. "We want to thank our customers, the communities we serve and all of our employees for their patience and support. We are looking forward to working together to resume service as quickly as possible."

"The contract meets our requirement for an agreement that recognizes our value to Comair and our responsibilities as professional airline pilots." said Capt. J.C. Lawson, chairman of the ALPA unit at Comair.

"The Comair pilots are looking forward to returning to their cockpits," Lawson said. "We want to move forward in a partnership with management and our fellow employees. Together, we can now all focus on our customers and provide the best airline product to the communities that we proudly serve."

"Our commitment to provide the absolute best service to our customers, of course, begins with safety," Rademacher said. "Now that we have a ratified contract with our pilots, we will be working harder than ever to focus on these goals and continue our growth and success as a leader among airlines flying small jets."

Some Comair flights are scheduled to begin on July 2, 2001. Comair is releasing more information about the resumption of operations separately.
