US Airways Unit of Air Line Pilots Association Elects New Chairman

PITTSBURGH—The leaders of the US Airways unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) today elected Captain Bill Pollock as chairman of the pilot union’s governing body, the Master Executive Council (MEC). Effective January 1, 2003, Captain Pollock will succeed Captain Chris Beebe, who will assume the office of ALPA International’s vice president-finance/treasurer on that date.

Captain Pollock currently serves as vice chairman of the US Airways MEC, an office he has held for nearly three years. A 17-year veteran of US Airways, he holds a captain position on the A320. His previous ALPA experience includes serving as chairman of the MEC Legislative Affairs Committee for more than 12 years.

During the week of December 16, the MEC will elect a vice chairman to fill the position left vacant by Captain Pollock’s election as chairman. The chairman and the vice chairman’s remaining terms are from January 1, 2003, to March 22, 2004.

The US Airways pilots Master Executive Council is made up of 12 representatives and three officers elected from more than 4,200 US Airways pilots. ALPA is the world’s oldest and largest airline pilot union founded in 1931. It represents 66,000 airline pilots at 43 carriers in the United States and Canada.
