ALPA CCAir Pilots Vote for New Contract to Save Company
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The pilots of CCAir, as represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), today announced that they have voted to accept a management-proposed contract to ensure the continued operation of their company.
Faced with the threat of job terminations on May 15, 2002, and an announced July 1, 2002, shutdown of the carrier’s operation, the CCAir pilots conducted an expedited ratification vote to determine whether they would be willing to accept the terms of a tentative agreement that CCAir pilot negotiators reached with management on April 17, 2002.
Brian Billups, vice chairman of the ALPA CCAir Master Executive Council, stated, "This vote serves as a clear indication that our pilots are willing to make sacrifices to keep CCAir alive. We want to work with management to restore this airline to its former success levels."
CCAIR, Inc. is a subsidiary of the Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group and operates as an independent airline providing service as US Airways Express.
