ALPA Applauds Firearms Bill at Today’s News Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C.---The chairman of the Air Line Pilots Association’s security committee will be present to speak at today’s news conference announcing the introduction of a bill that would mandate a federal program to authorize airline pilots to carry firearms in the cockpit.
"We have worked closely with Representatives Young and Mica to craft a bill that will mandate a training program to allow pilots to carry firearms in their cockpits. ALPA will throw its full support behind this legislation because the bill addresses the concerns of both pilots and airlines," said Capt. Steve Luckey, chairman of ALPA’s security committee.
Over the weekend, ALPA also kicked off a letter writing campaign urging its members to write to the CEOs of their airlines in support of firearms authorization.
