Midwest Express Pilots Applaud Flight Attendants on Contract Agreement, Focus on the Future
MILWAUKEE --- The union representing pilots at Midwest Express Airlines applauds negotiators from the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and management for reaching agreement on a tentative contract.
"Although the agreement was achieved after the National Mediation Board’s deadline for lifting the restrictions on a strike or lockout, this clearly demonstrates that the negotiating process that has been in place for years can, and does, work," said Captain Jay Schnedorf, chairman of the Midwest Express Airlines unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA). "We are pleased that the parties were able to achieve an agreement and encourage the flight attendant rank-and-file to remain united behind their leadership as they approach the ratification process."
"We look forward to Midwest Express management and all employees being able to focus on serving our passengers and recovering from the economic downturn the airline industry has experienced," Schnedorf added.
Midwest Express is a nationwide carrier with a fleet of DC-9 and MD-80 aircraft based out of General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, WI.
