ALPA Jazz Pilots Meet With Air Canada Management

OTTAWA---Union officials representing the nearly 1,500 Air Canada Jazz pilots met with their management in Montreal today to discuss the future of the airline in these difficult economic times. Air Canada’s pilots had received a similar presentation at an earlier forum.

"This airline is trying to foster a partnership with all of its employees in these difficult economic times," said Capt. Vincent Charron, communications chairman of the Air Canada Jazz pilots’ Master Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, International. "We appreciate management’s openness with us and will take the data they present to conduct a due diligence program as soon as possible," said Captain Charron.

"Once the due diligence exercise is concluded and we have the information required to make informed decisions, we will be in a much better position to sit down with our management and discuss the economic future of our company," Captain Charron added.

ALPA, the world’s oldest and largest airline pilot union, represents 66,000 pilots at 42 carriers in Canada and the U.S. Its Web site is at http://www.alpa.org.
