ALPA’s SPSC Is Up and Running
This past week, ALPA’s Executive Council approved modifying the name of the National Strike Committee to the Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee (SPSC). This change broadens the scope of the committee’s work and makes clear to all that the mission of the committee is to assist the Association or a particular MEC through strategic preparation to reach the goals they have set, not simply to assist in strike preparation.
The committee’s mission statement is:
The ALPA Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee serves to support the strategic goals of our MECs by helping them build their internal organizational structure to promote and leverage pilot unity.
The Committee shall act in an advisory capacity by helping ALPA MECs organize, train, and equip their committees to ensure their pilot group is prepared to implement a strike, if necessary.
The Committee will assist in the development and coordination of ALPA International plans of action, as directed by the President.
More information on the Committee, including its
strategic goals, scope of work, and coordination with ALPA MECs, will run in the
next issue of Air Line Pilot magazine.
