Mesaba Airlines Pilot Reps Elect Union Leaders

MEMPHIS – Pilot union representatives from the Mesaba Airlines unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) have elected leaders of their Master Executive Council (MEC) for a two-year term that will begin October 1. Capt. Mark Nagel was re-elected MEC chairman, Capt. Jeril Metzger was re-elected MEC vice chairman, and First Officer Jessica Englund was elected secretary-treasurer.

Capt. Nagel enters his second term as MEC chairman. Before becoming MEC chairman in 2007, Nagel served on Mesaba’s Negotiating Committee for six years. He is a captain on the CRJ-900, based in Detroit, and has been flying for Mesaba since 1997.

Capt. Metzger continues in the role of MEC vice chairman, in which he has served since January 2007. Before that, Metzger was a member of the Master Executive Council in the positions of both captain and first officer representative for the Minneapolis local council of ALPA, as well as working as Grievance Committee chairman. Metzger also serves as an instructor pilot for Mesaba, and holds a captain position on the CRJ-900. He is based in Minneapolis, and started working for Mesaba as a customer service agent in 1996.

First Officer Jessica Englund enters her first term and first elected office with ALPA as Mesaba’s new MEC secretary-treasurer. Englund has served Mesaba pilots as a member of the MEC Communications Committee. She flies the Saab SF-340 for Mesaba, based in Minneapolis, and has been with Mesaba since 2007.

Mesaba Airlines, operating as Delta Connection, is a subsidiary of Delta Airlines. Mesaba’s more than 1,000 professional pilots are represented by ALPA. Founded in 1931, ALPA represents nearly 53,500 pilots at 36 airlines in the United States and Canada.
