ALPA Commends Nomination of Earl Weener to NTSB

WASHINGTON – Capt. John Prater, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration’s announcement of the nomination of Dr. Earl F. Weener as a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

“The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, welcomes the Obama administration’s nomination of Dr. Earl F. Weener as a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

“Dr. Weener has demonstrated noteworthy success in identifying risks and forging solutions for some of the most challenging aviation safety issues of our times. His work includes important progress in reducing runway excursions, controlled flight into terrain, and approach and landing accidents. His background in aerospace engineering and his experience as a pilot will serve him well in continuing his impressive career.

“We urge swift confirmation of Dr. Weener as a Member of the NTSB. We look forward to working with him in a tireless pursuit of the highest standards of aviation safety.”
