Pilots Gratified as U.S. Senate Confirms Woerth as ICAO Ambassador

WASHINGTON – Capt. John Prater, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), released the following statement upon the confirmation by the U.S. Senate of Capt. Duane E. Woerth as Ambassador, International Civil Aviation Organization, Department of State.

“The 53,000 members of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, congratulate Capt. Duane E. Woerth on his confirmation by the U.S. Senate as the next U.S. Ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization.

“Airline passengers, cargo shippers, and all who rely on a safe and stable airline industry in the United States and around the globe will benefit from the tremendous depth of understanding that Capt. Woerth brings to this important post. Woerth has served the airline industry as an airline pilot, international union president, government and industry advisory committee representative, and member of airline boards of directors. His far-reaching experience will position him to represent the U.S. airline industry in the world arena and to ensure that air transportation safety is enhanced.
