With today’s election, the Delta Master Executive Council (MEC), the governing body of the airline’s 12,300 pilots, passed the baton from Chairman Captain Lee Moak to Captain Tim O’Malley.

The officers assume their new duties January 1, 2011.

“The Delta pilots have faced many obstacles and opportunities over the past several years in what continues to be a very challenging and dynamic industry,” Capt O’Malley said. “I look forward to working closely with the team of newly elected officers, the Delta Master Executive Council and the Delta pilots as we face the challenges and opportunities ahead.
