ALPA’s Executive Council Elected, Take Office January 1, 2013

October 17, 2012—ALPA President Capt. Lee Moak swore in newly elected members of the Executive Council today at the Association’s Board of Directors meeting in Hollywood, Florida.

All nine executive vice presidents (EVPs) will take office on January 1, 2013, and will serve two-year terms. Status and seniority-block representatives elected EVPs through caucuses from each of the ALPA airline groupings, which includes A, B1, B2, B3, B4, and C. Those elected are:

• Continental Capt. Larry Beck, who was reelected (Group A)
• Delta F/O Scott Smetana, serving his first term (Group A)
• FedEx Capt. Joe DePete, serving his first term (Group A)
• United F/O Michael Hamilton, who was reelected (Group A)
• American Eagle Capt. Tom Maxwell, who was reelected (Group B1)
• Pinnacle Capt. Mark Nagel, who was reelected (Group B2)
• ExpressJet F/O William Hanna, serving his first term (Group B3)
• AirTran F/O Todd Ortscheid, who was reelected (Group B4)
• Jazz Capt. Dan Adamus, who was reelected (Group C)

EVPs, along with the four national officers, make up ALPA’s Executive Council. They meet at least six times per year to collaborate with ALPA’s president on furthering objectives and policies set by the Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Board.

In 2013, each group will be composed of the following airlines:

• Group A: Delta, Continental, FedEx, and United
• Group B1: American Eagle, Atlantic Southeast, Compass, Mesa Air Group, Sun Country, and Ryan Int'l
• Group B2: Alaska, Capital Cargo, Evergreen, Piedmont, Pinnacle, and Spirit
• Group B3: Air Wisconsin, CommutAir, ExpressJet, Hawaiian, Island Air, and Trans States
• Group B4: Air Tran, Air Transport International, PSA, and North American
• Group C: Air Transat, Bearskin, Calm Air, Canadian North, CanJet, First Air, Jazz Air, Kelowna Flightcraft, and Wasaya
